“Where there is perfection, there is no story to tell” – Ben Okri.
We are living in times of narrations and quotations. Once I’ve read a blog - some American, and it was as usual, about authors and writing and books. All of a sudden a strange thought occurred to me – in the list of authors whose books were cited there as worthwhile to read there was no one new title and the new name for me – really strange idea with my University list of books as old as maybe 20 years. Soon afterward, wanting to know the nowadays philosophical trends, I plunged into manuals on culture – and was stupefied – propose to repeat the experience - a really great challenge for naive and old-fashioned people to whom I belonged then – and it’s such a pity, am not anymore.
It really! seems to me that everything worth of to be mentioned as a part of my beloved “belles lettres’ – as I’m used to thinking in this beautiful French words about Literature - so, everything was written and said Long before! After Plato, & Kafka, & Hemingway only Narrations & Quotations were left to our contemporary authors.
Why this little fallback? The matter is I do not want to repeat the best things already existing in Netty (all the other call it Internet – and as to me – I love it – it’s for me like a person) – and there is a great number of awesome teachers who are doing a perfect job with enviable tenacity and deep knowledge. My Blog is intended for ME! Just to Improve Myself! – and for You – willing follow me on my way of improving English. That is why I am supposed to find good and most essential, or in the case of Grammar - synthesizing material and spare your time and efforts doing the same. Uh, by the way – sometimes I’ll be sparing your money too. Because all that you really need on the advanced or intermediate level of knowledge is practice. All that you have to do is to create the English speaking ambiance around you – reading English books, listening English-speaking broadcasts, watching movies, admiring Big Talks and other TV-shows… I’ll be doing my best trying to prepare the language material in the most digestible way – so it’ll be easy to understand and in need of minimum research on the visitor’s part – you’ll have to work, of course, sometimes it will be a challenge to make the exercise – but this is because of your task to improve and not to repeat the known stuff many-many boring times. The themes have to be interesting and useful, vocabulary has to become richer with every day of your work. The dialogues would be without unnecessary water – only the present day colloquial expressions and linguistic samples.
Listen carefully to the wise advice: if you want to overcome the language barrier – and to begin to speak and understand the spoken language – you have to learn the language like native speakers do – through repetition, and imitation, and speaking out aloud! The main thing is to forget about fear – be fearless like children are – only they do not have the fear to be mistaken. Our adult people with their lack of knowledge and fear of mistake usually find the only way of behavior – they are just felling in the stupor and stay silent despite all the spent efforts and money.
Let us begin some new trade - the tutorial on-line trade. That is why I decided to imagine-create my very own and cherished, dreamed off Empire - the little one, restricted to the Lounge dimension - but from the Lounge we'll be seeing and admiring the whole English-speaking world, learning like native-speaker.
Do you need Grammar? Yes, you do - being not a toddler or a full-time mom, you have to socialize as the educated people usually do - so, be so kind... PLEASE...
OK. I DO PROPOSE TO BEGIN FROM THE GRAMMAR THEME '' 12 English Tenses'': here's the link -
The links below are to lessons for each of the 12 basic English tenses. In each lesson we look at two aspects of the tense:
Some lessons look at additional matters, and most of them finish with a quiz to check your understanding.
